After examining suitable regions for saffron cultivation, it’s clear that many areas of Iran are ideal for growing saffron. However, Khorasan is the heart of saffron cultivation, with a long history of producing the spice. Recently, saffron cultivation has expanded to other parts of the country.

Iran produces 93% of the world’s saffron. Other countries, such as Spain, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan, China, France, Italy, Germany, Australia, and Greece, also grow saffron but in smaller quantities.

Saffron offers many benefits, both for farmers and consumers. This valuable crop requires little water compared to other plants. The effort to grow saffron is minimal, and the plant multiplies easily through its bulb. Over time, it spreads and grows in the same land.
