Saffron prices are not fair – the problem of export without a brand
The head of the National Saffron Council said that now only six percent of Iranian saffron is sold under the brand of Iranian companies.
We are currently seeing prices in the global market for saffron That we do not consider this price fair.
Mohsen Ehtesham of the government and the private sector of the province stated:
Currently, more than 95% of the world’s saffron is produced in Iran. But no one still knows us as producers However, more than 94% of the country’s saffron is exported raw And only about six percent are sold under the brand of Iranian companies.
He continued: The National Saffron Council is trying With the branding and presence in the global market and the management of the saffron export market, move in one direction That the price of saffron be determined in favor of fair farmers.
He said that the product of saffron is the pride of South Khorasan More than 200,000 households make a living, he said. The fair price of saffron makes it available to farmers at a real price.
The head of Birjand Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines stated:
We expect the powers of the governor of South Khorasan to increase To help craftsmen and entrepreneurs Because the process of multi-year decisions in Tehran delays the work.
Ehtesham continued by emphasizing the support of entrepreneurs, producers and exporters:
South Khorasan is weak in terms of infrastructure compared to developed provinces; Therefore, the producers of the province must be supported and empowered So that they can operate in a competitive market.
He pointed to the need to delegate some of the powers of the Industrial Organization, Mining and Trade to the National Saffron Council stated:
The private sector and the government were approved in Khorasan Razavi and the south So that the National Saffron Council can move in the process of exporting and branding and introducing the national saffron logo.
Ehtesham pointed out that eight demands have been made by the National Saffron Council in this regard, adding:
One of these demands is to pursue the return of the problems The currency obtained from the export of saffron is in line with the reduction of the phenomenon of smuggling and single-use exporters.
He stated:
Our main problem in discussing saffron exports has been through disposable cards, which have made real and real exporters and the saffron industry home.
The head of Birjand Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines continued:
Due to the 37% tariff on saffron exports to these Indian countries And China now exports most of its saffron to Hong Kong and Vietnam And that’s how it gets into China.
He added:
Also, due to the zero tariff between India and Afghanistan, a large part of Iran’s saffron goes to Afghanistan It is exported to India through this country.
He reminded:
In order to organize and organize the production and export of saffron The National Saffron Export and Production Plan has been developed by the National Saffron Council Which must be approved by the Cabinet.
