Production of more than 14 tons of dried saffron in Rashtkhar
The head of plant production of Jihad Keshavarzi Rashtkhar said: the saffron harvest in Rashtkhar has started from the level of 5400 hectares, which is expected to produce more than 14 thousand and 840 kg of dry saffron from these farms this year.
Ebrahim Asadi on the sidelines of visiting the saffron farms in Rashtkhar city among farmers, said: Saffron cultivation is one of the most important sources of employment and income of the people of this region that every year during the two months of planting and harvesting this golden crop more than 10 thousand people They are directly employed.
Emphasizing that the monopoly of quality production of the world’s best saffron product is in the possession of this city, he added: Of course, in this way, droughts and depletion of water resources are the most important obstacles to farm development and continued employment of citizens.

Emphasizing that the profit from the fluctuations of the dollar price on the saffron market goes to foreigners, he continued: Currently, more than 93% of saffron is exported to different countries in packages.
The head of plant production of Jihad Keshavarzi Rashtkhar said: Currently, the largest share of Iranian saffron exports to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Spain.
He pointed out that the multi-year drought has weakened the agricultural sector of the city, especially the saffron growers of this city, and added: we ask the provincial officials to allocate special funds for drought, accidents and water supply to the saffron farms of the city.
He stated: Due to the good yield and fruit of saffron in Rashtkhar city, another 500 hectares were planted with saffron by farmers in the region this year, which is 5% more than last year.
He said: Saffron is cultivated in the form of onions and the lack of processing and packaging machines is one of the problems of saffron growers.
