Observing wild specimens of this plant in Lorestan province and the special ecological conditions of the region have made this province known for cultivating red gold, and it has something to say.
In this regard, a saffron farmer from Lorestani said: Currently, in the Kamalvand region of Khorramabad, I have allocated a thousand square meters of land for saffron cultivation, from which two to three kilograms of saffron are harvested.

He added: Lorestan saffron is excellent in terms of essential oil, taste and smell and can compete with the provinces that are involved in saffron production in the country.
Saffron cultivation is not institutionalized in Lorestan

Tahmasebi reminded: if the agricultural land is good and there is optimal management and agricultural principles, the economic harvest of this product will be done sooner.
The Lorestani farmer added: In the province, the farmer is not allowed to establish a packaging company until the product reaches the quorum, and this has made it impossible for us to export this product.

He added: The most important property in increasing the global demand for this product is its stimulant and antidepressant, which can be used as a suitable alternative to chemical drugs and increase the body’s general resistance against many diseases and reduce it. Blood fats and cholesterol.
The official clarified: in the tests that have been done, all regions of the province are known to be suitable for cultivating this crop, and according to the average production yield of the country, which was five kilograms per hectare, this amount has been reported in the province at 10 kilograms per hectare.
Khademi added: in terms of quality, saffron is divided into four types with grades of three, two, one and excellent, which according to the national standard test of Iran, saffron produced in Lorestan province has an excellent grade.
He pointed out: At present, 60 hectares of the province’s lands are under cultivation of this crop, which has the highest yield related to Khorramabad city.
The official said: Due to the new cultivation of saffron in the province, unfortunately, no desirable measures have been taken in the discussion of packaging, and currently several packaging units are working as cooperatives, which we will try to increase and Raising the area under cultivation, improving the quality of packaging.
Khademi added: Fortunately, this was welcomed during the meetings we had with the Lorestan governor’s office, and facilities are to be allocated in this regard to encourage farmers to cultivate the crop extensively.
Saffron is offered in bulk in Lorestan
Also, the deputy director of the extension department of Lorestan Agricultural Jihad Organization, said: training classes and workshops have been implemented in the cities of the province and last year three conferences were held in the cities of Khorramabad but no action has been taken and only 40 people in the whole province are cultivating this product. .
The artist added: In the first year of cultivation, facilities were allocated for the purchase of onions as a subsidy, but because the cultivation of this product is free and new, no special action has been taken in the field of credit and facilities for it.
He pointed out: For packaging and processing, there are people who have not yet agreed to get a packaging license, and the reason is the lack of extensive cultivation of the product, and this product is usually offered in bulk.
A license has been issued for saffron packaging and processing industries in the province
The head of the Lorestan Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization also told: Saffron is mostly produced in the Zagros region with high yields.
Ishaq Taheri, Moghaddam, referring to some of the problems in the way of branding Lorestan saffron, added: A large volume of saffron produced in the country with excellent and high quality is harvested in Lorestan.
