Production forecast of 400 tons of saffron in Khorasan Razavi
Khorasan Razavi, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Central Organization of Rural Cooperatives of Iran, said: We expect to produce about 400 tons of saffron this year.
Hossein Shirzad in the Khorasan-e-Razavi Rural Cooperative Organization stated: The largest networks and organizations in the agricultural sector and the huge network of rural cooperatives in Khorasan-e-Razavi and this province is perhaps one of the largest bases of trade unions and the trade union system.
He continued: We have about 205 active rural cooperatives in this province and we are one of the record-breaking provinces in this regard.
Managing Director and Chairman of the Board of the Central Organization of Rural Cooperatives of Iran added: There are about 13 rural women’s cooperatives in this province.
Shirzad pointed out: We also have about 122 active agricultural cooperatives in this province, along with 5 agricultural cooperative unions. We have one of the highest records in active rural production cooperatives.
He pointed out: Khorasan Razavi province also holds the record in the agricultural trade union system, which works in the direction of identifying the activities of the agricultural sector and has many activities in the social insurance sector.
The CEO and Chairman of the Board of the Central Organization of Rural Cooperatives of Iran said: We are witnessing 540 active organizations in the agricultural and rural sectors in Khorasan Province, which has covered about 640,000 people.
Shirzad stated: In recent months, the Khorasan Razavi Rural Cooperative Network was able to purchase 67,000 tons of wheat. Also during this period, 7,000 tons of rapeseed and 4,000 tons of milk of this province have been purchased.
He said: Khorasan Razavi is ready to increase its milk purchase to 7,000 tons in the coming months, and 7,000 tons of rapeseed will definitely reach 10,000 tons next year.
The CEO and Chairman of the Board of the Central Organization of Rural Cooperatives of Iran added: In a targeted market intervention last year, we succeeded in purchasing 68 tons of saffron in three provinces of Greater Khorasan with a focus on Khorasan-e-Razavi.
Shirzad reminded: out of this number, we have been able to sell about 41 tons of it in the best possible way with the price discovery mechanism in the commodity exchange and the cooperation of traders.
He said: Also next week, about 7.5 tons of saffron will be ready for sale, it seems that we will be able to sell all these 68 tons of saffron in the next month and a half.
Managing Director and Chairman of the Board of the Central Organization of Rural Cooperatives of Iran stated: Saffron has a structural and purposeful market. We have about 210 years of sales experience in saffron production.
Shirzad said: the price of saffron will be a function of supply and demand mechanism, currently Negin saffron is priced at about 8 million tomans and 610 euros in the market.
He pointed out: What returns to the price of saffron in the market is not a steep slope of its price and we are against this. The important thing is to be able to control price fluctuations. It seems that this part will take a smoother slope in the coming months.
