Increasing saffron cultivation to more than 5,000 hectares in Neishabour

Mohammad Ali Farahmandrad, pointing out that this year the area under cultivation of valuable saffron
plant in this city has increased from 5,700 hectares to 5,900,000 hectares, said:

He stated:
Neishabour saffron is cultivated in the central parts, Miyan Jalgeh and Zabrkhan,
which has directly and indirectly created employment for 114,000 people.

The director of Neishabour Agricultural Jihad stated:
The amount of gross income of farmers working in this sector is 56 billion Rials.

Farahmandrad added:
Due to special climatic conditions, such as excessive autumn heat, reduced spring rainfall,
summer heat, early irrigation of fields by farmers in the current crop year,
an average of 2.8 kg of saffron has been harvested per hectare and the city’s share About 16 tons
of dry saffron is from this year’s production due to a 40% reduction in production.

He said:
supplying the required chemical and micronutrient fertilizers,
providing tips and technical advice in order to support Neishabour saffron growers.

The director of Neishabour Agricultural Jihad added:
Saffron has been very well received by farmers due to its lower water needs.
