Harvesting 18 kg of saffron from six hectares in Kermanshah
The horticulture director of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Kermanshah province said:
According to the experiments, the quality of saffron produced in the province is higher than other parts of the country.
Engineer Mansour Ahmadi stated in front of reporters:
Recently, experiments have been carried out in France on saffron produced in Kermanshah province,
according to the results of which the amount of safranal and picrocrocin is about 10% more than the best saffron produced. It is in Khorasan.
Ahmadi added:
In addition to the suitable climate of the province, suitable post-harvest processes such as drying and storage have been effective in this regard.
He further announced the area of saffron cultivation in the province as six hectares and said:
This year, 18 kg of saffron worth 720 million Rials has been harvested from this area.
Kermanshah province-Ahmadi, stating that the province’s climate is unique for saffron cultivation, said:
We have planned if the provincial officials help to have 100 hectares of saffron cultivation development in the province annually,
which will generate income and employment for the province.
Ahmadi stated:
Saffron is a crop that needs water in October and November, ie in the months when other crops do not need water,
so it is recommended to cultivate it in rainfed lands that do not damage irrigated lands.
Ahmadi said in Kermanshah province:
By holding training and extension courses, we intend to introduce this product more to the farmers of the province.
