Find a new method for the early emergence of saffron plants
According to the correspondent of the Birjand Journalists Club, the research deputy of the University of Birjand said that research project on the effect of zeolite on saffron germination was carried out for the first time in Iran by the faculty member of the Water Engineering Department of the University of Birjand. So far, many studies have been conducted on the cultivation of this product in the regions Different countries have different climatic conditions, but emergence as the most important stage of plant growth can be of great importance in the implementation of these plans.
Bhadni said that saffron is considered as the most expensive spice in the world. In this research, the effect of zeolite minerals on early emergence and flowering of saffron has been studied.
The executor of this research project and the faculty member of the Water Engineering Department of Birjand University stated: “Zeolites form a large family of mineral aluminousylated minerals, which have the fertile soil properties, storage and maintenance of water from its properties.
It was noted that in arid and semiarid regions due to drought stress, using zeolite can moderately undesirable effects of drought stress, which in this study, using zeolites of potassium, calcium and mixed soil in amounts of 20 and 60 grams Per kilogram of soil, their effect on the time and percentage of emergence of saffron has been investigated.
The scientific commissions of the University of Birjand referred to the results of the research project and added: “The results of the experiment indicate that the zeolite type is effective on the time of emergence, but different amounts of zeolite have no effect on the time and percentage of germination. Also, surveys have shown that The use of potassium zeolite due to stimulation of germination of saffron straw can have a beneficial effect on improving the germination time and increasing germination percentage.
He stated that the early emergence of saffron could have an early flowering and not affecting the period of flowering to the cold, said: “Preserving the environment and not using toxins and chemicals in agricultural products is a special place in Between scientists and researchers found that zeolites, as a natural and environmentally friendly mineral, can play an important role in this direction.
Zaoliki also said that the export of zeolites, especially clinoptilolite, in the world will reach about 6 million tons per year with an average purity of 65% -60%, and in Iran, with purity of more than 80% of its premium types in the world.
The organizer of this research project and the faculty member of the Water Engineering Department of Birjand University also announced the cost of two million tomans for the project and said: The project was carried out in 92 and 93 years, and its results will be used to increase the yield of saffron production.
