Added 470 hectares to the area of saffron orchards in North Khorasan
The director general of horticulture affairs of North Khorasan Jihad Agricultural Organization said: 470 hectares were added to the area of saffron gardens in this province.
Mohammad Ali Sharikian stated: Khorasan-e-Razavi, South and North provinces with a total area of 2190 hectares and a production of 8.8 tons, respectively, are ranked first to third, respectively.
He added: In terms of performance, the highest performance per unit area is related to North Khorasan province with an average yield of 6.2 kg per unit area, followed by Isfahan province with an average yield of 5.7 kg and Kerman province are in the next stages.

Partners pointed out: This year, 470 hectares have been added to the area of saffron orchards in this province and the amount of crop production is estimated at 15 tons.
The official in charge of per capita consumption of saffron in the country said 0.7 grams and reminded: Iran with 60 tons per year consumption is the first in the world consumption of saffron.
