Sa’daleh Eskandari, in an interview with the correspondent of the Tabriz newspapers, added: “The prevention of weed competition with saffron, such as saffron is a short and delicate herb, and its high competition with weeds, is not very important.
Referring to the best time to fight saffron weed, he pointed out: “The best time to fight saffron weeds is when the plant is in summer sleep.”

Director of Horticulture of East Azarbaijan Agricultural Jihad Organization noted: Depending on the area and the amount of rain or irrigation frequency, weed control of saffron is necessary in different seasons, several times and in different ways.

He added: “Weed control mechanically, agronomically, biological and chemical methods, but in the cultivation of saffron, mechanical methods, especially weed, are common, and the chemical method is practical for the summer saffron.”

Commenting on the lack of saffron strength in the competition with weeds, Eskandari emphasized: the absence of a shaded stem in saffron does not have the potential to compete against weeds.
