Saffron is a super strategic product of Iran
The head of Iran’s Chamber of Commerce said:
Considering the impact of saffron on the country’s economic situation, as well as the livelihood and living conditions of the villagers,
if we call this product Iran’s super-strategic commodity, it is still low.
Gholam Hossein Shafei stated:
Saffron is an irreplaceable commodity and there is no commodity with this capacity to penetrate world markets
and 95% production power in the country.
He added:
Saffron is one of the bases of rural development movement,
especially in the two provinces of Khorasan Razavi and South,
and a large number of farmers and producers of this product are from rural and underdeveloped areas,
in many places the only hope of people’s livelihood is this plant.
Shafei pointed out:
Despite the goodness of saffron and the fact that the pride of exporting the two provinces of Khorasan Razavi and South Khorasan to this product,
but its attention has not been given to this potential.
He continued:
Although the Agricultural Jihad Organization and private sector organizations have done valuable work such as compiling a comprehensive
plan for saffron, but unfortunately due to problems this plan has not yet been implemented and we hope to reconsider this in the new conditions
of the country with the support of representatives.
The plan should be done.
