Saffron Festival in Isfahan

The head of the Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Bureau of Shahin Shahr and Meymeh said at the opening ceremony of the festival, said the festivals organized by the Cultural Heritage Bureau were followed up by the tourism approach. And it is very effective in attracting tourists.

Jawad Chehrazi added: Saffron brand registration is the most important goal of this festival, and other purposes are to promote the replacement of saffron cultivation as a product of low water, as well as improving the quality and quantity of saffron in the village.

He added that identifying the pristine areas and tourism capacities in the area was one of the other goals of the festival.

The head of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Department of Shahin Shahr and Meime added: “The region has two global registers, one of the historic hills of the Islamic era, which can create a high capacity for attracting tourists.”

He noted that by presenting and introducing our saffron, we hope to create an opportunity for the tourism of this village to forget about the capacities that we have.

Alireza Salem, director of the Agriculture Ministry’s Jihad Department of Agriculture, said that in the Meymeh section, about 54 hectares of agricultural land is under cultivation of saffron, which was harvested more than 220kg of red gold this year.

The representative of the people of Shahin Shahr, Meymeh and Borkar in the Islamic Consultative Assembly also thanked the audience for the festival.
Hossein Ali Haji Daligani said: “Hassan of such festivals is that we can emphasize and remind the indigenous capacities and introduce them to others,” he said. “We do not forget what capacities we have.”

Director General of the rural affairs of the governorate of Isfahan said: “With a curriculum we can take effective steps for the happiness and dynamism of the village people and the survival of these villages.

He added that the word “ten” means generosity, we should be proud of our village, so that our villages are grown and the goal in this festival is not just to show saffron.

Meyme County also said: Saffron Festival is the third festival held in the Meymeh section of the past 2 years.

Shahram Azaripi added that the philosophy of these festivals should be the development of tourism and by doing so create employment.
The saffron product is of high quality and due to the fertile soil and good water extracted from the qanats of this region, the obtained saffron is of great quality, as far as it is competing with the saffron of the Qa’ānat of Khorasan.

Based on the analysis done on saffron, its purity is above 86%, and in terms of aroma and odor, it is far superior to other products on the market.

The level of cultivation of saffron in Isfahan in 1993 was about 617 hectares, which increased by more than 15 percent in 94, and in 1995, this trend continued to reach 758 hectares.
