Prediction of harvesting more than 11,000 kg of saffron in Mahvelat
The director of Mehvalat Agricultural Jihad announced the harvest of 11,850 kilos of saffron by the end of the harvest season in this city.
Ahmad Naderi stated: Mehvalat city, with an area under cultivation of 3,950 hectares of red gold, is the fifth largest producer of this product in Khorasan Razavi province.
He announced the increase of saffron production in Mahwalat city compared to last year and added: suitable climatic conditions and the absence of cold and frost in the harvest season, caused the production of saffron in Mahwalat to increase by 5% this year.
The director of Mehvalat Agricultural Jihad stated: It is predicted that three kilos of flowers and a total of 11 thousand and 850 kilos of saffron will be produced from each hectare this year.
Naderi stated that the saffron harvest in Mehvalat city starts in mid-November and continues until the first decade of December, adding: Each hectare of saffron creates permanent employment for one person.
Currently, the price of each kilo of saffron flowers in Mehvalat market is 50,000 Tomans.
