Planting saffron in 211 hectares of agricultural lands in Kermanshah

Khosrow Shahbazi, while visiting the saffron farms in Shahini village of Sarab Niloufar, stated:
Saffron has a history of cultivation in Kermanshah, but it has been neglected for years and has flourished again since 2011.

He added:
Last year, 105 hectares of cultivated area of this crop was added, with the emphasis of the governors,
another 106 hectares were added, and now we have 211 hectares of cultivated area of saffron.

The head of the Jihad Agriculture Organization of Kermanshah province, stating that packaging workshops have been formed in the province, said:
At present, we have two active workshops in Kuzran and Sarabonilofar.

He said:
According to the tests performed, the analysis of saffron cultivated in Kermanshah is 30% more than in Khorasan.

Shahbazi, stating that saffron is an economic crop and efforts should be made for it, added:
four kilograms of saffron is harvested per hectare from the province’s farms, of which 400 kilograms are harvested from all farms in the province,
and this amount is expected to increase in the coming years.

He specified:
in Kermanshah province, there is a potential to harvest up to 40 kg of saffron from each hectare.
