Planting 620 hectares of medicinal plants and saffron in Lorestan
The horticulture director of Lorestan Agricultural Jihad Organization announced the planting of more than 620 hectares of medicinal plants and saffron in the province.
Engineer Behrooz Baharvand stated: During this year, 161 hectares have been added to the cultivated lands of medicinal plants and saffron in the province, and now more than 620 hectares have been cultivated with these products.
He continued: According to these statistics, about 100 hectares have been allocated to medicinal plants, which used to be 470 hectares and now its cultivation area has reached about 570 hectares.
Baharvand announced that the area under cultivation added to the saffron lands of the province is about 61 hectares and said: Currently, about 151 hectares of the lands of the province have been saffron cultivated.
The horticulture director of the Lorestan Agricultural Jihad Organization added: Activities in the field of medicinal plants are lucrative and employment-generating, and if farmers come to believe this, they will definitely welcome it.
He continued: In this regard, more work should be done to promote and cultivate the cultivation of these plants and also to support them.
