Etesham noted that a key achievement of the group is maintaining standards across the supply chain. Another accomplishment is their collaboration with farmers, starting with training to ensure high-quality products at the production level.

Since the formation of the group in 2002, in conjunction with national saffron and barberry festivals, over 2,000 local farmers have partnered with the organization. The group was a pioneer in adopting contract farming and producing organic products, especially organic saffron, surpassing global standards. They also work to reduce pesticide residues in their products to ensure safety and organic quality.

The CEO added that the suppliers of organic saffron are local farmers who own their own fields. These farmers actively contribute to the company’s production efforts, ensuring adherence to the required standards.

Innovation in Organic Saffron Production

Etesham highlighted Tarvand Saffron as the first producer and exporter of organic saffron in Iran, a significant achievement that solidifies the company’s international standing. He emphasized that maintaining quality and ensuring customer satisfaction have helped the company establish a loyal customer base.

Expanding Education and Quality Standards for Organic Products

The national entrepreneur stated that educating farmers on producing high-quality products while adhering to both national and international standards has been a priority since the company’s start. As a result, the company has received numerous awards for quality and recognition as a sample technical unit at the national level.

Etesham emphasized that the company’s commitment to quality has remained central to its success, allowing them to produce according to market needs and customer demands.

He concluded by stating that the company continues to seek even higher standards. The group has secured various ISO certifications and management awards, vital for an export company, showing its dedication to meeting international buyer requirements.

The Importance of Persian Saffron in Global Markets

After more than 30 years in global markets, the CEO acknowledged that the company has worked tirelessly to meet customer expectations, building loyalty with high-quality products. While Iran remains the world’s largest saffron producer, it still faces challenges in producing saffron-based goods compared to other commodities like barberry, which require established standards.

The First Crescent Award in South Khorasan

At the ceremony, the Director General of Standards of South Khorasan congratulated the company for being the first in the province to receive the Crescent Award. Morteza Dastourani noted that national standards are determined through a process that extends beyond local boundaries.

Dastourani added that the goal is to align local standards with global requirements. He emphasized the ministry’s efforts to make Iranian laboratories internationally accredited. Previously, provincial certifications lacked legal status, but the updated law has reformed this process.

South Khorasan’s Industrial Potential

Dastourani highlighted that many of the region’s standard certifications, including for barberry, come from Qaenat, showing the area’s industrial potential.

He also praised Tarvand Saffron’s contribution to the saffron industry and mentioned that efforts are underway to establish international standards for saffron, particularly saffron extract, addressing past delays in developing such standards.

Dastourani concluded by saying that recent actions aim to support producers and align them with global standards, maintaining a commitment to both national and international quality benchmarks.
