How many saffron from South Khorasan this year are picked up?
The head of the Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization of South Khorasan said that the province’s saffron is sent to all parts of the country, in particular Tehran, Sistan-Baluchestan and Khorasan-e-Razavi, said that this year, 15 tons and 114 hectares of cultivated land will be harvested 56 tons of saffron.
Hashim Valipur Motlagh said in an interview with the Tasnim correspondent in Birjand, “The crop survey has not yet been done accurately, but it is expected that nearly 15,114 hectares of South Khorasan lands will be cultivated in the 1995-95 crop.
He added that the most land of saffron with 4,449 hectares is related to the city of Qaen, which is expected to harvest 56 tons of saffron this year in South Khorasan.
The head of Jihad-e-Khorasan Agricultural Organization said the number of exploited farmers in saffron production in southern Khorasan is about 36,500 people, and the harvest of saffron in the province began in late October and will continue until early December.
Valipur Motlagh added: Saffron of South Khorasan province will be sent to all parts of the country, especially the provinces of Khorasan Razavi, Tehran, Iran and Baloochestan.
He said: last year 15,14 hectares were harvested with 54.6 tons of saffron in South Khorasan.
Head of Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization of Southern Khorasan said: This year, 2,630 billion rials are expected to be earned by saffron operators in southern Khorasan.
