Beginning of saffron harvest in 100 hectares of farms in Robat Karim city
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Robat Karim city announced: saffron harvest started in 100 hectares of farms in this city.
Alireza Heidari stated: Saffron cultivation has been welcomed by farmers in this city in recent years and every year saffron harvest begins in early November and continues for a month.
According to him, it is predicted that 600 kg of pure saffron will be harvested from the agricultural lands of Robat Karim city this year and the farmers of Manjilabad, Yaqeh, Kikavar, Anjumabad and Peyghambar villages will earn 120 million Tomans per hectare of gross income.
He emphasized on promoting and replacing plants with low water needs and added: saffron cultivation has grown significantly in recent years in terms of high economic efficiency and job creation for families.
The director of Robat Karim Jihad-e-Agriculture further informed about the destruction of illegal constructions in this city and said: 24,000 square meters of agricultural and garden lands in Robat Karim were liberated and returned to the agricultural cycle.
