470 hectares were added to the area of saffron gardens in northern Khorasan in Iran
Director General of Horticultural Affairs of the North Khorasan Jihad Organization said 470 hectares were added to the area of the province’s saffron gardens.
“Mohammad Ali Sharikian, Director General of Horticultural Affairs of Northern Khorasan Jihad Agriculture Organization in Iran, said: The provinces of Khorasan Razavi, South and North with a total area of 2190 hectares and 8.8 tons respectively, ranked first to third respectively.
He added: In terms of yield, the highest yield per unit area was in North Khorasan Province with an average yield of 6.2 kg / m2, followed by Isfahan Province in Iran with an average yield of 5.7 kg and Kerman province at a later stage.

The partners noted that this year, 470 hectares have been added to the area of the province’s saffron gardens, and the production rate is estimated at 15 tons.
Saffron consumption per capita in the country was 0.7 grams and reminded: Iran consumes saffron in the world 60 tons a year.
