35% growth of saffron exports in Khorasan Razavi province
The head of the Khorasan Razavi Saffron Exporters Union announced a 35% increase in saffron exports
in the first six months of this year compared to the same period last year.
Gholamreza Miri stated:
Due to the approaching saffron harvest season, sales of this product in domestic markets have decreased,
but exports are going through their normal routine and is accelerating more than the same period last year.
Every year in October, the supply of saffron from farmers usually decreases,
and what is used for export will usually be from the stock of traders, exporters and traders, Miri said.
He pointed out:
it is not possible to comment definitively on production, however, due to the increase in the area under saffron cultivation,
more efforts by farmers to increase efficiency and support of the province’s agricultural jihad is expected to be more this year than last year.
The head of the Khorasan Razavi Saffron Exporters Union continued:
We hope that after the end of the saffron harvest season, like last year, we will not see sharp fluctuations in saffron prices and as a result,
farmers will be harmed and necessary measures will be considered in this regard.
Regarding the comprehensive saffron plan, he said:
Currently, the Agricultural Jihad Organization spends money on saffron in the form of the funds it has,
but the expectation for supporting the saffron product is more than the credit allocated.
We hope that considering the recent visit of the President and The government board to the province will approve the credits of this plan soon.
