20% increase in Iranian saffron harvest and export

A member of the National Saffron Council announced the end of saffron harvest and said:
the harvest of this saffron will increase by about 20% to about 300 tons and the export of this product will reach 200 tons in the current crop year.

Ali Hosseini – Vice President of the Association of Saffron Producers and Exporters of South Khorasan said:
Considering the elimination of duties on saffron exports and the possibility of eliminating the foreign exchange contract that promised exporters
to return the currency from the export to the foreign exchange room or the Central Bank,
The flourishing and record-breaking export of red gold over the past years was promising and predicted that,
considering the 20% increase in saffron production, the export of this product would reach about 200 tons with the same increase.

He expressed hope that by implementing saffron development programs,
it would be possible to produce 500 tons of saffron in the country for the next five years without the need to increase the area under cultivation
and by increasing productivity to one gram of product per square meter.
