Warning about the increase of Iranian saffron competitors

The Vice President of the National Saffron Council, pointing out that Iran’s competitors in the global saffron market are increasing, said:
Iran’s competitors do not like fluctuations in saffron prices and Iran is losing the global market.

Gholamreza Miri stated:
The price of saffron has increased by about 20% since the beginning of this year,
and we proposed solutions to prevent the fluctuation of saffron prices to the officials, but it has not been taken into consideration.

Miri, pointing out that saffron is the first product in the country whose real price reaches the farmer, added:
The profit of selling saffron for sellers is only 20 to 30 thousand tomans.

He said:
We have been looking for the establishment of Saffron Bank for about four years; In this bank,
saffron is bought from the farmer during the harvest season and is kept with the bank as a support for market regulation.

Miri said:
maintaining the position of Iranian saffron in the world market requires the allocation of 200 billion tomans.

The Vice President of the National Saffron Council,
pointing out that the price of saffron fluctuates daily is 400,000 Tomans and it is difficult to work in an environment with these fluctuations, said:
They did not work. We have even made this proposal with the officials of the parliament, the Ministry of Trade,
the Trade Development Organization, the Ministry of Jihad for Agriculture and the banks.

Miri pointed out:
95% of saffron exports in the whole country are from Mashhad.
where agricultural and health promoters are present, and farmers are doing the work of separating, drying and packing saffron.

Currently, 120,000 rural households make a living this way and it has $ 500 million in foreign exchange for the country, Miri said.
