Scientific work on saffron in Iran is weak
Mohammad Ali Behdani said at a special conference on saffron in Birjand last night that saffron has not received new scientific fruits in the past 50 years, said: “We have to keep saffron organic, but we should not use new techniques.” The world that will increase the productivity of this product, let’s not overlook.

The lack of proper packaging, the lack of strategic pricing, the lack of attention to the appropriate commercial indications for advertising and the lack of advertising has been one of the other challenges facing saffron for globalization, and stated: production and reproduction with modern methods Co-ordinated allocation of research centers, the global price increase through the purchase of an agreement within the country, is one of the solutions to these problems.
Bidani stated that development of exports requires the development of various fields, especially in the agricultural sector, said that this development can be done in the form of processing, transformation and packaging industries in the country.
Pointing out that Iran is currently the largest producer and exporter of saffron, he said: the development and development of a comprehensive strategy for the production and export of saffron is one of the requirements of this sector.
He said that with the inclusion of export awards, the packaging of this product and the protection of private sector investment, as well as the exchange and interaction between the producer and packaging units, can be achieved with the real status of the country in this field worldwide.
Behdani noted that the economic performance of this product, especially in the dry and desert region of South Khorasan, is rising due to changes in farmers’ viewpoints and scientific principles.
At the end of the establishment of the Saffron Research Center at Birjand University, the head of the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Birjand said: “We have already agreed to set up the Faculty and will begin to work in the near future.”
