Saffron production efficiency in Iran should be increased

The head of the Mashhad Saffron Sellers Union said:
we must increase the efficiency of saffron production.

Reza Miri added:
Instead of increasing the area under cultivation, we should increase production efficiency.

Referring to the expectation of buyers for the new product to enter the market, he said:
Currently, farmers harvest three kilograms and 500 grams per hectare of land,
and they must increase this amount to seven kg per hectare.

The head of the Mashhad Saffron Sellers Association, regarding the variety of packaging of saffron products, said:
Fortunately, we have a good variety of packaging and there are at least four types of packaging for almost every weight.

He specified:
The purchase price of saffron is commensurate with its quality and varies from 5 to 7 million tomans,
and farmers are advised to produce a quality product.

Miri announced the area under saffron cultivation in the country as 90,000 hectares and added:
This amount was 83,000 hectares until last year, and during the past year,
the governors of 22 provinces have tried to increase their saffron production due to the water crisis.

Referring to 63,000 hectares of saffron cultivation area in Khorasan Razavi, he emphasized:
We are trying to increase the quality of products and we hope this year’s product will be good and quality.
