Production of 300 tons of Iranian saffron and export market
Ali Hosseini said:
With the boom in tourism in the summer and due to the eve of the holy month of Ramadan,
when saffron consumption increases in Islamic countries, the saffron export market has boomed.
He added:
In the last decade, the average yield of saffron was five kilograms per hectare,
which considering 70,000 hectares of cultivated area of this product in the two provinces of Khorasan Razavi and South Khorasan,
production reached 350,000 tons, but now due to some problems the yield Saffron has been reduced to four kilograms per unit area.
A member of the National Saffron Council noted:
Last year, saffron exports had a value of about $ 500,000 for the country,
which could easily increase to $ 1 billion, and could be achieved by removing export barriers and expanding global markets.
