Production forecast of 40 kg of saffron in Kermanshah
According to the director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Kermanshah city, in the next crop year,
the area under saffron cultivation in this city will increase significantly and will reach 65 hectares.
Engineer Shahriar Ghasemi said:
This year, 15 hectares of lands in Kermanshah city have been planted with saffron and it is predicted that 40 kg of saffron will be produced in this city.
According to the director of agricultural jihad,
last year only two hectares of the city’s lands were under saffron cultivation and a total of six kilograms of saffron was produced in Kermanshah.
Ghasemi said that the average saffron harvest in city is three kilograms per hectare and said:
each hectare of saffron generates about 20 million tomans of income for farmers.
He considered the saffron produced in Kermanshah city to be competitive with high quality saffron and added:
saffron is cultivated in city in Kozran, Sarfiroozabad, Chaghanargs, Bilvar and Mahidasht centers.
He announced plans to expand the area under saffron cultivation to 65 hectares in the next crop year and added:
We plan to increase the area under saffron cultivation by 50 hectares.
Suitable rainfall during the growing season , no rainfall in summer to prevent onion rot,
the existence of a suitable growth temperature during the growing season,
the presence of suitable soil in terms of texture and structure,
no need for water Irrigation in summer and the economics of saffron cultivation in Kermanshah city due to the high quantity and quality
of the product compared to other parts of the country is one of the reasons for paying attention to saffron cultivation in city.
