Planting 3 tons of saffron onions in Kowsar city
Khyber Ali Jalili said at noon:
Last year, saffron onions were planted in seven plots of land in Kowsar, and this created employment for 7 people.
He pointed out that the harvest of saffron planted last year was two kilograms, he added:
Due to climatic conditions and water shortage,
the approach of agricultural jihad is to change the cultivation pattern and promote plants that have low water requirements and have high economic efficiency in cultivation priority.
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Kowsar city stated that the economic value of cultivating
one hectare of saffron is almost equivalent to cultivating 40 hectares of dryland wheat, and specified:
Saffron is one of the most expensive agricultural products in the world and has a special place among our country’s products and exports.
Jalili added: in the next crop year,
3 tons of saffron onions will be planted in the region and we hope that with the development of cultivation of this valuable product,
we will be able to witness the development of its cultivation in Kowsar.
He said that the saffron plant has a good yield in Kowsar region, he said:
Due to the need for water shortage and high economic efficiency, planting this product is recommended to dear farmers.
He called on farmers to replace this product for economic reasons,
both to create more jobs and to increase the sustainable income of their households.
