The head of the Farooj governorate said:
only about 18% of the red gold (saffron) produced in Farooj is processed in this city.
Masoud Sadegh, pointing out that the saffron harvest season has started from the farms of this city, added:
three saffron processing units are active in this city, where 18% of the production of this product
is processed in these three units and the rest of the saffron produced to cities such as Mashhad Shipped for processing.
Regarding the purchase of saffron in this area, he said:
In the past two years, a saffron market was set up in this city in order to facilitate the purchase and sale of this product,
but it was not welcomed by saffron growers in this city, and this led to This market should not be launched last year.
Sadegh stated that last year the price of saffron increased due to the price of the dollar, but has decreased this year,
adding that in order for saffron growers not to suffer due to the low price of saffron, a guaranteed purchase must be made by the rural cooperative.
He stated:
Guaranteed purchase of saffron was done in 1396 and the necessary correspondence
and follow-up to purchase this product are also being done this year.
It is predicted that the amount of saffron harvest in North Khorasan will reach 18 tons this fall and most of the saffron produced
in this province belongs to Farouj city, where 75% of North Khorasan saffron is produced in this city.
The area under saffron cultivation in this province is 3,206 hectares, which is located over 2,000 hectares in the city of Farooj.
