Managing saffron exports leads to a fivefold exchange rate
The representative of the people of Torbat Heydariyeh, Mahwalat and Zaveh in the Islamic Consultative Assembly said:
the entry of saffron into the stock market affects the world markets.
Abolghasem Khosravi stated:
Paying attention to the saffron process from the planting stage to its packaging,
export and processing can have an important fruit in the prosperity of this city.
Referring to the conspiracy of the domination system to reduce oil prices, he added:
Considering that 90% of the world’s saffron is produced in Iran,
we can have a good currency for the country with proper management and export of this product.
He said:
to connect the production chain to saffron exports,
the government can solve an important part of the country’s economic problems by managing this strategic product.
He continued:
Now, with the sale of bulk saffron by brokers, Iran receives $ 350 million a year,
but with proper packaging and legal export under the name of the Islamic Republic of Iran, this amount will increase fivefold.
After 95 years of saffron cultivation and production in the country,
we have not yet been able to set up an international exchange for saffron exports,
he said, noting that 95% of the world’s red gold is produced in Iran.
Khosravi continued:
The entry of saffron in the export hall of the Commodity Exchange can affect global markets and save the country
from dependence on oil by exporting a large part of this production.
He mentioned the area of saffron cultivation in Iran as 62,000 hectares and stated:
The area of saffron cultivation in Torbat Heydariyeh region is 21,000 hectares with a production capacity of 75 tons of dry saffron per year;
Therefore, this city has become the center of saffron production in the country and the world.
