Harvesting 9 tons of dry saffron in Neishabour city
The director of Neishabour Jihad-e-Agriculture said: This year, about 9 tons of dry saffron was harvested in this city.
Engineer Seyed Gholamreza Nabavi Namaghi added: The current cultivated area is 2950 hectares, including 270 hectares of fertile and 250 hectares of infertile and young.
He said: “Despite the sharp decrease in rainfall in the previous crop year, with the efforts of farmers, providing the necessary guidance by experts and the use of micronutrient fertilizers, between 3 to 3.2 kg of saffron was harvested from each hectare.”
He announced the number of saffron growers in the city as more than 4,200 and added: The highest level of saffron cultivation has been done in the central, middle and upper parts, respectively. The deputy head of the Khorasan Razavi Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization estimated the gross income of farmers working in this sector at 172 billion rials.
The director of Neishabour Agricultural Jihad explained about the support of Neishabour Agricultural Jihad for saffron growers: providing the required chemical and micronutrient fertilizers, providing information, tips and technical advice, providing heater devices for drying, cultivating and cultivating crops.
Nabavi continued by stating that the implementation of model projects and research and study of optimal planting methods and optimal use of inputs and facilities will lead to better and more harvests: Planting to harvest more than one kilogram of saffron per hectare.
