Effect of saffron on blood
The report was conducted by Dr Mohsen Iman Shahidi, Dr. Hossein Hosseinzadeh and Dr. Yasser Javadpour from the faculty members of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.
In this study, the effect of aqueous extract of saffron and its two compounds, crocin and safranal, have been studied in lowering blood pressure with normal blood pressure and blood pressure with drug (dezoxi kortico stron stat).
In this study, three doses of crocin (50 mg / kg, 100, 200) safranal (0.25, 0.5, 1 mg / kg) and aqueous extract (2.5, 5, 10 mg / kg) intravenously Five groups of animals with normal or high blood pressure were injected and their effects on arterial blood pressure (MABP) and heart rate were evaluated.
According to this report, the aqueous extract of saffron, crocin and safranal reduced arterial blood pressure in a dose-dependent manner in animals with normal blood pressure and high blood pressure. For example, administration of 10 mg / kg of aqueous extract, 1 mg / kg safranal and 200 mg / kg of crocin resulted in a decrease in arterial blood pressure of +/- 7 +/- 60, +/- 5 +/- 50 and +/- 8/3 + -51 mm Hg Became
According to the results of this study, the aqueous extract of saffron stigma has effects of lowering the pressure, which seems to be at least partly due to the two active compounds in the plant, namely crocin and safranal, and safranal at the bottom Bringing blood pressure up is more effective than crocin.
It is noteworthy that crocin and safranal are two active ingredients in saffron.
