Beginning of saffron harvest in 6850 hectares of Taybad fields

The director of Taybad Agricultural Jihad said: the saffron harvest started from 6,850 hectares of fields of this crop in East Khorasan Razavi.

Mohammad Miri stated: In the current crop year, the area of ??saffron cultivation in Taybad increased by 650 hectares, which is seven percent more than the previous crop year.
He continued: saffron cultivation is scattered in Taybad city, however, for each hectare of cultivation of this crop, 130 people are working in this area from the planting stage to the saffron harvest.
Director of Taybad Agricultural Jihad said: saffron flower harvest in the fields of this region during the last crop year reached 480 kg per hectare and in total last year in addition to 32 tons of dry saffron was produced in this city.
Miri added: in the current crop year and in order to support the saffron growers of this region, in addition to 15 tons and 500 kg of dry saffron were purchased from them as a guarantee and 100% of their claims have been paid.
He said: Saffron cultivation has been welcomed by farmers in the region due to less need for water, and therefore provide the necessary chemical fertilizers and micronutrients, use modern irrigation methods, fight weeds, prevent livestock grazing. It is done in farms and providing technical tips and advice in order to support saffron growers.
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi Taybad also announced the distribution of 1000 tons of fertilizers among saffron growers in this region during the last year and said: the harvest of this crop starts every year from the end of October and continues until the middle of December. Miri added: in the current crop year, in 21% of the fields of this crop in Taybad, new irrigation methods have been implemented.
