Beginning of saffron harvest from 160 hectares of farms in Khorramabad
He specified:
There are 132 hectares of saffron farms with a cultivation period of two years or more in Khorramabad, which this year.
The director of Khorramabad Agricultural Jihad reminded:
considering the average year of planting such farms in Khorramabad and the average harvest of saffron which is about three kilograms per hectare,
it is predicted that about half of the province’s production, which amounts to 550 Kg is produced, harvested,
packaged and supplied to Taqasa market in Khorramabad city.
Biranvand continued:
More than 400 rural households in Khorramabad have been working in the field of saffron cultivation,
which is part of the harvesting, cleaning and processing operations as a family,
and in this regard, more than 1,000 skilled farm workers.
Saffron in the form of women’s micro-cooperatives with the support and planning of agricultural jihad have been organized and trained.
He added:
During the harvest season, about 100 seasonal workers per hectare of saffron
farm are working for two months in connection with harvesting, cleaning, drying and packaging operations.
The director of Khorramabad Agricultural Jihad stated:
The saffron turnover in Khorramabad is over 2 billion Tomans annually,
which plays a significant role in employment, increasing the livelihood and reverse migration of the region.
Biranvand reminded:
the management of conversion and food industries of Jihad Keshavarzi Organization has given permission to the vast majority of saffron
growers for home packaging and the major saffron growers are branding and increasing the quality of their packaging,
which we hope we can take saffron to the province.
He said:

by the Rural Cooperative Organization on the agenda if necessary
