Harvesting saffron from the pistachio-rich land of Rafsanjan city
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi said:
saffron is harvested from 10 hectares of Rafsanjan lands.
Reza Bemani, while visiting Raviz region to study the issues and problems of this section, added:
the area of saffron cultivation in this city is about 10 hectares.
Almost 15 years have passed since the cultivation and production of this product.
He pointed out the advantage of this product in low water consumption and specified:
The biggest and most important advantage of this product is its low water consumption, so that it needs only two irrigations before harvest.
More importantly, saffron needs water when other foods do not need water and are harvested,
and the average harvest of saffron in Rafsanjan is about 5 kg per hectare.
Bemani said:
The decrease in temperature and early cold of autumn this year has reduced the yield and damage to production,
and this management has improved the area under cultivation in this region in the current crop year by using banking training.
He stated:
last yr, 30 kg of saffron became harvested from the area beneath cultivation in Rafsanjan .
Rafsanjan is an ancient city in the northwest of Kerman.
