Cultivation of saffron with the best quality in Falavarjan city

The head of the plant production unit of Falavarjan city said:
due to water shortage and due to the suitable climate in the city for saffron cultivation,
the cultivation of this product started three years ago in Falavarjan.

Seyyed Abolfazl Razavi, stating that saffron cultivation only needs three stages of irrigation during the year, said:
Due to water shortage and due to the suitable climate for cultivating this crop in the city, we moved to saffron cultivation.

He said that the cultivation of saffron started in the city about three years ago, adding:
this crop is cultivated in Falavarjan city, in three to three and a half hectares of agricultural lands,
which yields about seven kilograms of crop per hectare.

The head of the plant production unit of Falavarjan city, pointing out that the farmers of the city welcomed the cultivation of saffron, clarified:
We faced problems in preparing saffron tubers and onions,
but at present the saffron onions of the city are supplied from the regions of South Khorasan.

Razavi pointed out:
The high cost of harvesting saffron due to the need for high labor and accurate performance,
as well as small plots of saffron cultivation land that reduces its yield, is another problem of farmers in the city.

He stated that the sample that was sent to Khorasan for testing was evaluated as the best saffron in the country in terms of quality, adding that the research activities of Jihad Keshavarzi were carried out in research farms and comparing cultivars for saffron cultivation about five years ago.
