A member of the National Saffron Council,
while complaining that the Iranian saffron brand is being forgotten with repackaging in other countries, said:
This product, which costs two dollars per gram in the world market, is produced quite traditionally.
And be indifferent to the quality production of this product, Iranian saffron markets are lost.
Ali Hosseini stated:
Most of the saffron in the country is produced by the methods of the last 200 years and exporters
have to work for a long time on this harvested product to be able to export it to the world as a quality product,
so if the Ministry of Jihad Agriculture If the quality of this product is not improved, the Iranian saffron markets will be lost.
He added:
If the Ministry of Jihad for Agriculture does not fulfill its inherent duty,
which is to educate farmers to improve the quality of production of this product,
we will face the fate of Spain in the last 80 years, and even if we increase saffron production many times in the coming years,
export markets This product is lost.
This member of the National Saffron Council emphasized the importance of quality saffron production for the development of export markets:
In the last 80 years, more than 100 tons of saffron were produced in Spain, and at the same time,
the production of this product in Iran was about 20 tons,
while Spain currently produces about one ton of saffron and the production of this product in Iran has reached more than 300 tons, but if we do not pay attention to the quality of saffron production, we will face the past fate of Spain.
