600 kg of saffron was produced in Khomein city

Director of Jihad Keshavarzi Khomein said: 600 kg of high quality saffron flowers were produced in this city during the current crop year and after harvesting from the farms, they were sent to the market.

Abbas Arshadi added: This amount of saffron has been harvested from 94 hectares of fertile fields of Khomein saffron.
He said that the average production of this product from each hectare of cultivated land in Khomein this year is 6 kg, continued: Cultivation of this product per hectare has created three job opportunities and a total of 200 farmers and entrepreneurs in Khomein are engaged in planting saffron.
The director of Khomein Agricultural Jihad stated: 470 kg of high quality saffron flowers worth 66 billion Rials were harvested from Khomein farms last year and sent to the market.
Arshadi reminded: this city has the first place in the production of saffron in Markazi province and with its susceptible soil and subtropical climate, mild winters and hot and dry summers, it is a favorable place for cultivation and production of this product.
He said: Khomein saffron has a high quality in terms of aroma, color and taste in the country due to the type of soil and climatic conditions and meets the necessary standards.
The director of Khomein Agricultural Jihad added: Saffron is a drought-resistant crop that has been promoted in recent years in Khomein, especially in its central part, which is struggling with water shortages.

Fifty-two percent of Khomein’s people are farmers, and the region ranks first in saffron, second in Mohammadi, beans and honey in Markazi province.
