70,000 hectares of land in Khorasan Razavi to cultivate saffron
Seyed Hashem Naghibi said:
This year, the area under saffron cultivation in Khorasan Razavi
is 69,000 to 70,000 hectares with an increase compared to last year,
which of course does not mean an increase in production,
because in some areas farmers may have more lands than their water resources.
They have cultivated, and this in itself may reduce production.
He added:
The harvest of saffron depends on the amount of rainfall in the fall,
so it is not possible to announce statistics in this regard at this time.
Horticulture director of Khorasan Razavi Agricultural Jihad Organization,
referring to the problems of saffron inputs, continued:
Fortunately, we did not face any restrictions in the saffron onion sector,
but in the discussion of water, which is one of the main inputs for saffron cultivation,
due to the dry situation of Khorasan Razavi We are facing restrictions in this regard,
we asked all farmers in the province to cultivate agricultural lands according to their water resources.
He considered it impossible to announce the final price of saffron in Khorasan Razavi and said:
Of course, the time of harvest and its supply to the market,
if the price of saffron decreases from the minimum price,
farmers can refer to the relevant cooperative with the agreed price of their products to Sell
that one of the benefits of this method is shortening the hands of intermediaries and preventing losses to farmers in the province.
