The head of the saffron sales union of Khorasan Razavi said that during the past 40 days, 500,000 rials per day have been added to the price of one kilogram of saffron in the Mashhad market.
Gholamreza Mirie said in an interview with IRNA on Sunday that April 20 saw the price of saffron rise by 40 percent, after which the price of this product went up in Mashhad every day, so that over the past 40 days, 20 million rials Each kilogram of saffron has been added.
He said: “The unprecedented decline in production and the increase in the province’s export of saffron in the past year has caused a false price for this product in the Mashhad market.
He said last year about 171 tons of saffron were produced in Khorasan Razavi province, which was about 30 percent less than the previous year.
According to estimates made this year, saffron production in the province will decrease from last year, Miri added.
He said that in April this year, 11 tons of saffron exports were registered from Khorasan Razavi, which increased by 29 percent compared to the same period last year, said last year about 148 tons, and in 2013, about 117 tons of saffron from Khorasan Razavi outside It was exported from the country, indicating an increase in exports of this product from the province.
The head of the saffron sales union of Khorasan Razavi added: “Every year there will normally be about 40 tons of excess saffron in the province, which will not remain this year due to the decrease in saffron production,” he said.
