The price of each kilo of saffron is from 6 to 12 million Tomans
Gholamreza Miri, Vice President of the National Saffron Council, announced the stability of the price of red gold in the market and said: Currently, the minimum price per kilo of saffron is 6 million Tomans and the maximum is 12 million Tomans.
He added: According to the 4-month customs statistics, 51 tons and 96 kg of saffron were exported to the target markets, which has decreased by 10% compared to the same period last year.
Noting that the saffron market is in recession, Miri said: The economic situation in the country and the supply of 60 tons of saffron by the Rural Cooperative Organization at the end of the season has caused domestic and foreign traders not to take risks, if the problem is solved. The supply of saffron by the Rural Cooperative Organization can be expected to improve exports by the harvest season.
This official announced the price of 6 to 7 million Tomans per kilogram of straw saffron, 7 to 8 million Tomans for Sargol saffron, 8 to 9 million Tomans for Negin row saffron and 10 to 12 million tons for Negin saffron.
The Vice President of the National Saffron Council continued: If the Rural Cooperative Organization does not distribute 60 tons of saffron in the market, it is predicted that the price of saffron will increase due to the balance of supply and demand.
He said about the future of saffron market: until the end of the harvest season, it is not possible to make accurate predictions about saffron market.
Referring to the problems facing saffron exports, Miri added: Due to the illegal departure of saffron from the country’s borders and the return of currency to the Nima system, which costs the exporter about 2 million tomans, it is not possible for exporters to compete with smugglers.
According to him, although smugglers buy saffron for $ 100 to $ 150 a kilo cheaper, the exporter cannot compete with them, while by resolving the problem of currency return, exports can be expected to double.
The Vice President of the National Saffron Council stated in the end: Although saffron is one of the strategic products in the country, so the officials are expected to pay a fee to return the currency instead of the difference in the Nima system, so that 157,000 farming families do not have problems.
